Hello, friends,
It seems idiotic to send an essay today, with most Americans doing some awkward dance between eating hotdogs, watching fireworks, and reeling from yesterday’s Supreme Court decision, while most Brits are glued to the election coverage. But things are shifting for me, so I’d like to send some personal updates. We’ll get back to wobbling into the otherworld together next time.
Come to an event in London! I’ve been helping plan an experiment in language, ritual, and attention masterminded by poet
[that’s a link and you can click it to find out more about Tom. Substack’s formatting is very silly]. It’s on Wednesday 24th July at Bridewell Hall and tickets are free and you can get one here. It will be a literary lecture… of sorts. Expect plenty of magical and otherworldly interventions. I’m not going to tell you anything more about it; you’re just going to have to come and see.I’m gonna experiment with making this Substack fortnightly instead of weekly for a while.
I’ve been writing a newsletter in some form or other for about seven years now, and it’s helped me become a different person. I can’t imagine ever stopping.
And… it’s time to branch out. My imagination is sparking with ideas for live events, for online storytellings, for more visual work, for new ways to express my forays into the imaginal realm. But I don’t have time to explore them while I’m writing a weekly essay on top of writing a novel and working with clients.
So expect to see me in your inbox every two weeks from now on, so I can give time to some other streams and expressions—which I’ll always let you know about here.If you enjoy these letters and want to keep reading them, please add this address to your contacts so it doesn’t go to spam. And if you’re a paid subscriber, I totally understand if this change makes you reconsider your commitment. Thanks so much for your support up until now—and please do stick around as a free subscriber!
I can say there will absolutely be more sparkle around here when I have more time to consider and craft each piece. I am absolutely bursting with ideas at the moment, and excited to finally have time to execute them properly. If you want more regular updates and visuals, follow me on Instagram.
OK, that’s all from me for now. This little email might not seem like much. But it feels oddly momentous to me. I feel something new coming. I can’t wait to live into it with you all.
Love,
xx Ellie
Authentic vibes Ellie. Go for it! Xxxx
