Thanks Ellie, this aligns so much with my own work around accessing the imaginal during solo time out in the out there. . Not that you'd know as I'm still getting ducks in line for a September launching. Alice Oswald was one of my intercessional figures, along with R S Thomas, in my MA a few years back. Total immersion. Brilliant! Looking forward to the next piece.

Did you study with Alice too?! Amazing, how exciting. It’s been the privilege of my life to get to learn from her. What was your MA?

No, I didn't study with her, that'd be amazing no doubt! No, I did my MA in Creative writing at Bathspa with Tim Liardet doing poetry mostly. Alice was one of my intercessional figures where I totally immersed myself in all of her work, as I did also with RS Thomas. It's an osmosis that moved my work in a quantum leap I reckon..hearing them as you're making. Loved this last piece BTW. Brilliant what doing.

Ahh I see! Can absolutely imagine that that kind of immersion would move things along in quanta. We are so lucky to have her work. I’m looking forward to reading your collection when it’s out! Thanks so much for reading these pieces, and for your kindness.

Yes! I'm totally with you on this...reinstating a poetic faith in the reality of the imaginal realm is a big part of my work. Nice to find your newsletter.

I'm so happy I just opened this essay. So beautifully written! I just finished writing an essay I'll be publishing next week called "A House Full of Cats, Surrounded by Plants: A phenomenology of space and emergence, as told by our pets and our gardens" and landing on your writing afterwards was perfect. I've been chewing on a phenomenology of our imagination as an attempt to articulate the way I experience relationality, entanglement, and more-than-human connection as a part of my reality. But I've been mostly asking questions and pondering, not yet answering anything directly. Your writing offered such a comforting and resonant perspective. Thank you!

Hey Sydney, thanks so much for reading -- it's lovely to hear that this essay struck a chord with you. I definitely think that the imaginal realm is a place where we can experience more deeply what it's like to be other individuals and even species. Your work with plants sounds fascinating, I'll give it a read. Glad you stopped by!
